THE GALLERY BY BAGIRA
THE ONLY BAGIRA YOU KNOW
BAGIRA is one of Curaçao’s most recognized artists, voted Best Artist of Curaçao in 2024. Her portraits and murals appear across the island - at the airport, MCB Bank, beaches, hotels, and throughout the streets of Otrobanda. If you’ve spent time exploring the neighborhood, you’ve likely already seen her work without realizing it.
The Gallery by BAGIRA opened in The Village in March 2024 - a 120-square-meter space featuring her large-format canvases alongside rotating solo exhibitions by other local artists. Her portraits rarely depict specific people. Instead, they carry emotion and presence in a way that somehow feels familiar to everyone who sees them.
The gallery is easy to spot with its brightly painted entrance just off the main square. Inside, high ceilings and natural light shift constantly across BAGIRA’s ever-changing collection. You’ll often find her there in person, though with the number of murals and projects she creates across the island, she’s sometimes easier to spot around Otrobanda than behind the gallery door. Drop in. Take a seat. Look around. Drink it in. Fair warning - the “sold” signs on the large canvases tend to appear quickly.
